PARTNER
Juan C. Gonzalez is an experienced litigator who focuses his practice in the areas of Appellate, General Liability, Labor Law and Employment claims. Juan has an established track record and extensive trial experience handling high-exposure matters for large insured and self-insured companies across a broad spectrum of industries in state and federal trial and appellate courts across numerous jurisdictions. Juan’s practice includes complex civil litigation matters in areas ranging from general liability defense, product liability claims, catastrophic property and casualty loss, premises liability, coverage and recovery disputes, construction litigation, professional liability, dram shop, Labor Law, and
employment discrimination claims. He is often called on by his clients to handle complex high-stakes disputes, often at key junctures, involving strategic discovery and issue-framing through complex pre-trial, trial and post-trial hearings, proceedings, trials, motion practice and appeals. Juan also advises businesses, insurers, healthcare enterprises, startups and non-profit corporations on issues and transactions involving contract disputes, negotiations, licensing and privacy, HIPPA and other compliance issues. Over the course of his career, Juan’s successes have saved (or recovered) tens of millions of dollars for his clients.
Juan has served in various leadership roles, has been involved in various not-for-profit organizations and has served on various committees, including the New York County Democratic Independent Judicial Screening Panel for State Supreme Court vacancies. He regularly lectures on a range of topics of importance to his clients, and has served as Adjunct Professor at St. John’s University School of Law, where he taught appellate practice, procedure and advanced legal writing and advocacy to upper-class students.
Juan has been recognized as a Super Lawyer® by his peers every year since 2020, a distinction reserved for no more than five percent of the lawyers statewide, and was recognized as a Rising Star® from 2015 through 2018, a distinction reserved for only 2.5% of lawyers statewide. He was elected to the membership of the national Council on Litigation Management (CLM), a non-partisan alliance of insurance claims professionals, companies, in-house counsel, Litigation and Risk Managers and outside counsel.
Juan obtained his law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He is a member of the bars of the State and federal courts of New York, the U.S. Supreme Court, and holds memberships with the Defense Association of New York, the Defense Research Institute, as well as the Hispanic National Bar Association and affiliate, the Hispanic National Bar Association, Region II.
